OUR MISSION

Driven by a deep commitment to follow Jesus, we leave behind our careers and loved ones to make a difference in a place that lacks many of the resources we take for granted.

For us, it begins and ends with God’s love, which has absolutely transformed our hearts. As His love continues to shape us more into Jesus’ likeness, we have begun to care more about what He cares about - the vulnerable and marginalized. His attention was focused on those hurting and broken - both spiritually and physically.

We aim to follow in his footsteps.

HOW WE SERVE

We juggle many responsibilities each day in Kenya, from educating our children to hosting visitors, but here are the key areas where we concentrate our efforts within the hospital and the community

HEALTHCARE FOR THE MARGINALIZED

Dr. Jack Strutner serves at Kapsowar Mission Hospital as the only Internal Medicine and Pediatric physician in a highly under-resourced rural setting and as the hospital’s Head of the Pediatrics Department. He works across the newborn unit, pediatric ward, and adult ward, provides consult services throughout the hospital, and regularly assists with emergencies in the emergency department. In a region with limited access to specialized care, Jack treats a wide range of acute and complex medical conditions, often caring for patients who have no other viable options for treatment.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Jack provides leadership and mentorship to the pediatric team, helping strengthen systems of care for children and newborns. His work requires broad clinical skill, adaptability, and deep compassion, as he balances high patient volume with limited resources.

FRIENDS OF KAPSOWAR

Regan serves as the Director of Friends of Kapsowar, connecting generous supporters in the West to the real and urgent healthcare needs of Kapsowar Mission Hospital. She works closely with doctors, hospital leadership, and patients to identify priorities, steward donor support, and communicate impact with clarity and integrity. Her role ensures that generosity is translated into tangible, life-saving care and that donors can give with confidence, knowing their support is meeting real needs in a community with very limited safety nets.

Before serving in Kenya, she spent nearly a decade running her own creative business. Her background in storytelling, communications, and fundraising—paired with firsthand life in Kapsowar—allows her to tell honest, dignified stories that invite meaningful partnership. Through Friends of Kapsowar, Regan helps transform generosity into lasting impact, building a bridge between donors and the people they serve.
